How to Get the Pick of the Litter
or Pre-Reserve a Puppy

 

Giving a "pick of the litter" is very difficult from our end, but we know that it's important to many people. In the past, we did not allow pre-reservation of puppies. But, due to increased pleas, we will now work with you if you are sure you want a puppy from a certain mother/father.

 

Please understand that it's often a rocky process, especially if more than one person is waiting on a litter. We must all work together to help it to go smoothly.

 

If you would like to reserve a puppy before it is born, or to get the pick of the litter, please understand the following before you commit.

 

• First Come, First Served... I will take up to 3 deposits per litter. We allow people to pick puppies in the order that deposits are received. The exception to this would be that if we are keeping a puppy from a litter, we will chose before offering other puppies up for choosing.
• Before Birth Deposits...To get the pick of the litter, your deposit will probably have to be received before the births or immediately after the births.
• Time to Choose...A time limit for choosing must be followed, especially if others are behind you wanting to choose their puppies. In other words, we can't hold puppies indefinitely for you, because other people are behind you in line waiting to get to choose their puppies.
• "The Timeline..."  We "normally" take the puppies' first pictures around 3 to 5 days of age. From the time we post those photos or send them out, we most often need you to pick your puppy within 3 or 4 days. This is so the next people in line can pick theirs, and the ones behind them can pick theirs, if applicable.
• No competition? If nobody is in line behind you, we may give you a few more days to choose. But when other people inquire, we need to be able to answer their questions, which usually include "Is Puppy #X available? She/He is our favorite."
• Guarantees...Our normal guarantees apply for puppies. If we find that a puppy has a fault before it leaves our home, which is rare, we will offer you a refund, an exchange for another similar puppy, or a partial refund if you choose to keep your puppy.
• Pricing...Each puppy is individually priced, with the amounts set according to gender, color, markings, pedigree, and size of litter.
• Refunds and Postponements...When it's your time to pick, if you decide that you no longer want a puppy from the litter, you can either wait until the next litter or we will refund your deposit to you. If you paid via PayPal, we will refund whatever our net proceeds are (after their small fee) if it has been too long to do an automatic full refund.

 

If you do not feel comfortable picking your puppy based upon the parents, the colors, markings, and gender, you should not request a pick of the litter. We can't put other people off for weeks, waiting for the puppies to become 5 or 6 weeks old when they are cute and playful for you to pick.

Another situation to consider is, what if you are the second or third in line? Will you be able to accept if someone ahead of you chooses the puppy you liked the best?

Also, note that if you reserve a pick of the litter, and later a puppy from the same litter is offered at a reduced price, please know that your puppy's price is not changed. We sometimes change puppies' prices as they mature with many factors possibly affecting this decision. If you would like to TRADE for that cheaper puppy, please contact us. But please don't ask us to reduce your current puppy's price just because a different puppy's price was changed.
